Hi, I am also looking for information on the dutch painter Alfred van Neste because last saturday I bought a silk-screen printing of his hand. The picture is of a old dutch house ( street) along a canal. With a boat under a bridge.

ALFRED JOSEPH AUGUSTE VAN NESTE

Born on March 4, 1874 in Bruges (Belgium). Died in 1969 in Uccle (Brussels - Belgium)

Painter of urban landscapes, painter in watercolours, engraver, illustrator, poster artist

He was the nephew of Florimond Van Acker (1858-1940) and was his pupil. He was also a pupil of Acadamies of the Art schools of Bruges and Antwerp. He became professor with the ' Academies of Antwerp and Brussels.

He painted picturesque sites of Bruges and Antwerp. He also worked in Venice and in Brittany. He created also posters and models for processions and processions history

He became the most significant from Antwerp poster artist and carried out also stamps, cosrumes and illustrations of books. He illustrated the book " De Leeuw van Vlaanderen " of Henri Conscience (1912 Antwerp).

Wij hebben een pen tekening van Alfred v Neste Vrij groot met de grote kerk van Antwerpen er op.

Ik zou wel een willen weten wat de waarde van zo`n pen tekening is.

We have an oil painting by Alfred van Neste. It's a lovely painting on a wooden board entitled "les deux bateaux" (two boats). The size is 24 x 36 inches. It depicts a windmill in the background, a farm house with a canal and the two boats. This beautiful painting belonged to my husband's aunt who lived in Antwerp. When she died he inherited it. We now admire it everyday in our home in Canada.

We are wondering what the value of this painting might be.
